Hi my name is Marieca (its an anagram of America…honest). I love history, reading and all things woolly. I returned to the world of woollen textiles through experimental archaeology when I was asked to devise a tablet weaving session for the local Young Archaeologists’ Club. Giddy with mastering this ancient form of weaving I went on to re-vitalize the skills of crochet and knitting I learnt from my mother and before I knew it I was setting up a wool craft group and having a go at anything woolly.
I live in the beautiful Lake District together with my ancient spaniel and whichever of my grown-up children has fluttered back to the nest for a visit.
Having moved from vegetarianism to veganism – in addition to finding a decent milk alternative for my cup of tea … still a work in progress – I have had to re-think my crafty relationship with animal products like wool. Sob! I have loved my adventures in wool crafts and continue to use-up the wools in my stash BUT it is time to grasp the nettle (possibly literally) and start on a new path. So off I set with wobbly steps onto the road less travelled of vegan-environmentally-friendly yarns and fibres. It would be lovely if you can keep me company along the way.
