Hello me dears – Sorry but normal blogging is suspended until I can replace my camera. It seems its ailment was terminal so will need replacing (why is that repairs cost more than the camera?) and for that I will need to wait for pay day. Back in a couple of weeks.
I apologize for the brevity of today’s entry but my camera gave up the ghost and it is no more (sob).
It seems the Orange Box did not want to give up its secrets easily. But what a tantalizing glimpse. I’m pleased I can share this snippet with you.
The Orange Box was given to me by JG it was part of her mother’s craft store and JG thought I’d particularly like it because it contains an archive of crochet patterns.
Let’s have a decko,
Can you imagine how excited I was to look through decades of selected crochet patterns? I thought I’d start with the oldest and work my way to more recent years.
Many of earliest patterns are from the 1940s and they feature wonderfully delicate motifs – enjoy the brief window my failing camera afforded…
… it seems we will have to wait for further installments.
There is just one little thing that I managed to snap early enough to beat my Coolpix’ sudden demise. B asked if I could make her a little basket in red cotton. Unfortunately I couldn’t find cotton yarn chunky enough for what I wanted that is to crochet over thickish string to form a stable basket. I had a little experiment with acrylic yarn with only the teeniest hint of wool. Here’s the result,
what do you think? I’m not sure. It’s perhaps a bit woolly (can’t believe I’m writing that) oh dear think I will have to play a bit more. What a shame….
Toodle-oo for now. Hopefully I will be back soon with camera restored.
Being a bit of a busy bee myself these days No1 daughter had picked the perfect buzzy Mother’s Day gift last weekend, what a honey (OK I’ll stop now): a quick yarn project…
that came with lovely teeny equipment and materials,
that quickly delivered – with a little help from me – a cute stripy result
While I was at it the logo on the Pony needles reminded me of another little project that I promised to undertake
KC your needle felted giraffe brooch is almost ready (just needs a brooch pin sewing on).
Now as I toddle into a new week I’m looking forward to a couple of crochet basketry projects…I haven’t forgotten I will show you how I make them….honest…..and next weekend I will reveal the secret of the Orange Box
If you like vintage it’ll be right up your street.
Have a good one, Moke.
PS I have finished all the available books in the Peter Grant series by Ben Aaronovitch (sniffle)
They could have been written just for me: policemen, latin, London and even blacksmiths (it’s a long story, a lifetime and more). Now I must console myself with other writers to satisfy my need for a (good) book on the platform. The search didn’t take long.
LeMaitre came up trumps… naturellement, n’est–ce pas?
Thankfully translated into English (obviously I couldn’t read it any other way). Like Alex it’s fellow LeMaitre novel Irene is not one for the faint hearted. Nonetheless it is a superb crime chiller with a well drawn team of detectives led by the diminutive Camille Verhoeven. Something to ermmm look forward to tomorrow morning on Platform 2. Choo choo, Moke
